Carla rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review:

Enjoyed a lovely visit to the winery. This is a very interesting wine made in a very interesting process.

"Our third edition of The Magician has seen a slight change in style with this edition Pinot Noir making up 60% of the blend and the balance 40% Shiraz. 30 % of the Shiraz grapes were hand harvested and kiln dried and 20% of the Pinot were hand harvested and kiln dried. The grapes were crushed and fermented on the skins for 18 days. After pressing the wine was moved into 1 year old French barriques and aged for 12 months in barriques." (Reif Estate Winemaker's notes)

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
