Currants, earth, espresso, sour raspberry, and old wood. Nice little “picnic wine”, can cut through some fatty meats, or go with lean game. Don’t expect too much from this wine, but definitely made in the old Bordeaux-style. Taut and restrained, lots of acid. I wouldn’t say finesse is in it’s vocabulary. Shoots for the back of the tongue, not long, but strangely lingering. At first you think it couldn’t go longer than another two years, but there seems to be some latent fruit hiding behind the acidity. Might be a gem in 5…who knows, I won’t be buying another one. Too many other good value Bordeaux satellites out there. 84 points. (ottawawinejournal.com)
