Valérie Dufour

Most memorable wine?
Château Haut-Brion 1981 and Château d'Yquem 1989. It's a tie.

What was your first wine?
Probably a cheap Chianti enclosed in straw

What’s your most unusual wine experience?
In a village in the heart of Chianti Classico, locals invited us to a feast and Bepe served us his homemade wine that tasted like mushrooms.

Which wine do you love at the moment?
La Spinetta Ca'di Pian 2008

I am a sommelier. I prefer old world wine but am not dogmatic about it. I have been a wine lover for a long time but feel like I barely know anything. I know I don't like monolitic wine that only taste like jam or the toast of the barrique. I like more suddle wines with layers, complexity, elegant fruit and bitterness.
