Dale scored this wine: 90/100

A recent staff tasting with Regan Kapach, winemaker at 16 Mile Cellars, brought a wonderful level of enthusiasm to my team at the restaurant. To be privileged enough to present the consumer with wines of Niagara is only made that much more special when you know the winemakers and the winery story. Passion and commitment to the product and where it comes from is all that go into this stellar example of Niagara Chardonnay. A Gold Medal winner at the 2016 Ontario Wine Awards we found 16 Mile Cellar 2012 Rebel Chardonnay to be a medium bodied, well balanced chardonnay with notes of apples simmering in butter and gentle spice. French oak brings a delicious vanilla component. For these reasons this Chardonnay is another great addition to our by the glass program at Wellington Court Restaurant and a highly recommended Niagara Chardonnay!

Meldville Sauvignon Blanc 2015

Dale scored this wine: 92/100

One of the things I dislike most about the changing of the seasons from fall to winter in Ontario is the idea that one of my favorite varietals, Sauvignon Blanc, should also be changing to a more "sweater weather" friendly wine. My introduction to Derek Barnett's new virtual project Meldville, and his 2015 "First Edition" Sauvignon Blanc changed all of that! Vanilla and tropical flavours are present on the nose of this aromatic Niagara Sauvignon Blanc as well as subtle flowery aromas and a slight bit of spice notes. True to his style there is amazing texture and weight giving me all that I long for in this varietal with nuances capable of carrying it over to a fire place, sweater weather white, albeit a gas fireplace now that we have downsized. For all of these reasons our team has added this Niagara gem to our by the glass program at Wellington Court.

Featherstone Winery Cabernet Franc 2014

dark fruit..yes please, oaky vanilla...yes please, nothing in the green spectrum. This Cabernet Franc from Featherstone Estate Winery is a staple on our restaurant wine list. It is approachable, affordable and a prime example of what Niagara is doing extremely well. The winery and owners are charming and a must stop when visiting the region.
