L'Orangeraie

Lorgeril L'Orangeraie Rosé 2014

Vin De Pays D'oc, France

Clearly strawberry on the nose but with a mineral finish reminiscent of unripe peaches. Tart, not sweet...which goes counter to the overly sweet North American versions of rosé. Enjoy with grilled chicken or fish or just relaxing on sunny day on a patio.

This is a great alternative to overwhelming California steak wines. It has strong flavours of blackberry and currants with hints of flint and black pepper to balance it. Enjoy with a filet mignon or marinated flank steak. It could also just as easily be sipped with strong cheeses. ..it seems like a mature wine that knows what it wants to be when it grows up. The price seems a bit lower than it should be...a very good wine.

This very dry red wine is very nice. Pencil shavings, graphite, cedar and a hint of sulpher on the nose. When tasting it has an immediate herbs and tart cranberry-cherry flavour. Over half an hour or so, it opens up it mellows with flavours of dried plum and fig as well as raisin. This is a nice wine to have with food, notably with a pasta with spicy tomato and salty pecorino romano or parmigiano-reggiano cheese. It would go equally well with any dish with pork products like bacon or bone in pork chops.

This Trius Riesling has an watermelon and peach nose. It is dry and quite acidic. The flavours retain this tartness which is not unpleasant. An extremely vibrant wine that would likely be good served with any dishes with crustaceans or fish with citrus. It could just as well go with a fruit inspired dessert as well.

Lots of great flavours going on in this dry red wine. It seems to have a cigar ash scent with violet undertones. What could be perceived as bitterness ends up being a very slight, but pleasant, spicy flavour. The spiciness is just barely overwhelmed by the warm leather flavours making for a wonderful overall drinking experience. A nice accompaniment to a peppery steak or blue-cheese burger on a warm summer evening.
