Good old Nipozanno! They have been making this gem forever, it's not gonna blow your with complexity but it is honest like all Frescobaldi wine. Classic structure and acidity soft tannins with the cherry nose right up front. I don't know if I would pick this wine up myself at this price point, however this wine is a bench mark when it comes to Chianti. If you're Chianti fan you should try it at least once.

Adam reviewed this wine:

Rocato is the the Top End Cuvée of this house and was the first "Super Tuscan" I remember enjoying. it's nice to see the predominant notes and structure follow suit through all price ranges and designations, including gun this one. The nose is distinct and pungent, and lots of depth of character. Petroleum is what jumps out first and turns to dark chocolate, balsamic and raspberries. The wine is light on the palate and refreshing but doesn't lack body. The tannins are little rustic but I don't mind that from a Chianti under 20$. Pick it up, make some pasta and relax. Quick tip, best way to make a perfect pairing is to use the wine you're drinking in the dish!

I was not surprised to find this label in a tasting of this type, Caprineto has been making quality Chianti for quite some time. If I didn't know better I might of thought it was baby Brunello...this wine was the most ready to drink of all the wines tasted. Just a lovely expression of Sangiovese, cherry blossom, tobacco and eucalyptus are all the signs of ready to drink, quality Sangiovese. The nose is worth the pice of admission! Have fun!

Not everyone is willing to get to this price point with Chianti, but I will! This wine has everything you need, acidity that fires straight through the palate carrying the fruit and tannins all the way back to the jaw and then bites. I love wines that have a delayed attack to point that you give your head a shake. This is not pizza wine folks, a term I don't particularly enjoy. Remember big wine needs big food, I recommend veal, rabbit...or take some time and braise something.this is serious wine!

To start I wasn't impressed with this wine, and its more about style than substance in this case. I think this wine might need a little more time in bottle to really show off. It was very tight and muted to start, but did start showing more fruit expression after I went back to it a few. Well structured and well rounded corners. Once again food will help it open up for sure. This wine dining really speak to me but it doesn't mean it's not good, for the price the quality is definitely there.
