Silver Oak Cabernet 1999

Alexander Valley, United States

Steve scored this wine: 95/100

89 points Robert Parker: "The 1999 Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley exhibits a deep, saturated ruby/purple color. The wine possesses aromas of sweet toasty oak, earth, spice box, cherries, and currants. It is a soft effort for this vintage. The wine has medium body, and good fruit and flavor." (12/2000) The 1999 Silver Oak Alexander Valley is a classic, rich Cabernet Sauvignon with a dark, ruby color and a complex nose of cassis, blueberries, cherries, nutmeg, chocolate and sandalwood. It is luscious and full-bodied on the palate and has a long, fruit-laden finish reminiscent of licorice.

Howling Bluff Sin Cera 2008

Okanaga Bc, Canada

Steve reviewed this wine:

This is a Meritage style blend of Howling Bluff estate grapes. Dominated by Merlot (80% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc, 16% Malbec) the wine shows intense plum, black cherry and coffee with further complex flavours and aromas of cassis, clove, cinnamon, pepper and chocolate. The finish is long and complex with concentrated flavours that both linger and evolve. Built for aging, this wine has ripe, fine grained tannins that will reward 6-12 years in the cellar, or decanting to drink now.

Steve scored this wine: 95/100

The 2004 growing season started early with a warm spring leading into a harvest that ended in September. This wine captures the essence of the vintage with cherry, raspberry, blueberry, plum, cassis and spicy American oak with an herbal backdrop to the finish. Drink the 750mL now through 2011. – Most recently tasted on June 3, 2009.

Faust Cabernet 2006

Napa Valley California, United States

Steve scored this wine: 90/100

Classic Napa Valley black and red fruit in the nose; also aromas of vanilla and cedar. Dense and rich on the palate with abundant, concentrated fruit and a rich, luxurious finish. In 2006, a cool, wet spring gave us a late start to the growing season. Summer was mostly cool with some heat spikes, ideal for Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. Harvest came a little late following some warm and cool spells in August and September, and moderate weather during harvest allowed for fully ripe, intensely flavored fruit. At harvest, the grapes are double sorted and crushed at Quintessa, then cold macerated and fermented in oak and stainless steel tanks. Faust is aged for 18 months in 25% new and 75% once-used French oak. ??Winemaker's notes

Hester Creek Cabernet 2006

Steve reviewed this wine:

Rich and full-bodied, our Cabernet Sauvignon has aromas of wild berries, blackberry, vanilla and plum followed by firm tannins and flavours of chocolate, plum, brambleberry and coffee. With its long finish this wine is a perfect pairing with red meats, grilled vegetables, bean dishes, pasta, and barbequed foods.
