Italian-Style Burger Recipe with Canadian Mozzarella and Chianti

Bring the taste of Italy to your backyard this summer.

July is one of my favourite months, traditionally the warmest month of the year in Canada.  It’s the perfect time to get together with friends and enjoy the best life has to offer. With warm days and spectacular sunsets, it’s easy to believe you’re in an exotic place where the weather’s more accommodating year round. To get the most out of your summer, here’s an exotic spin on an old favourite that’s best enjoyed with a bottle of wine, good conversation and the comfort of a backyard or patio.

The recipe is the Italian Style Burger.  Simple and quick to prepare, it brings together the fresh taste Italians have become famous for with delicious Canadian Mozzarella, though it also works with Canadian Cheddar, Havarti and Provolone.  In just a few minutes, you’ll discover the dolce vita for yourself.

To best complement this meal, I suggest going with the Chianti Riserva Rocca delle Macìe 2007, a dry, medium bodied Tuscan Chianti.

Or if Rosé is more your style, the Emiliana Adobe Reserva Rosé Syrah 2010 would also make an excellent pairing.

Here’s to burgers, Italian style!
