Our video chat below features social media tips for the wine industry from Marc Saltzman, tech columnist for the Toronto Star, USA Today, MSN, Yahoo, CNN and Gear Guide, viewed by 6-7 million people every week at Cineplex movie theatres across the country. What about the concern that many wineries have: they don’t have the time to do it or the budget to hire someone? What’s the real upside in being on social media, especially if you already have a web site? How do you know which social media channels to focus on? Is it all about Twitter and Facebook? […]
Having friends over for a dinner party, BBQ or for drinks on the patio can sometimes be more stressful than it should be. It can take a lot of careful thought and planning to find the perfect combination of food and drinks to serve that all your friends and family will like. With that in mind, we found some great apps that will help you plan the perfect meal. Natalie MacLean’s Wine Picks & Pairings The app uses the GPS technology on your phone to connect with real-time inventory numbers at your local LCBO store. It also gives you the […]
Our team was thrilled yesterday when Apple got in touch to tell us that our free wine app has been selected as one of the Best Canadian Apps on iTunes. Thanks for all your great feedback and feature suggestions over the past three years. We’re busy working on some new ones that we think you’ll love! You can also find us under Apple’s Essential Apps Collection for Foodies and Pocket Sommelier. Cheers!
Foodie apps for iPhones and BlackBerrys are all the rage of late (PC Magazine recently did a roundup of their favourites), and leading the charge is sommelier and “unapologetically tipsy” wine lass Natalie MacLean. The portable version allows users to pair food and drink from anywhere using a smart phone, then share the results via Facebook, MySpace, e-mail or Friendster. The app is downloadable from MacLean’s site, Nat Decants, and provides access to the 50,000 […]
Wine is one of the few presents that makes both the giver and the receiver look good. You look like you spent a bundle on the gift (even if you didn’t) and the recipients are happy that you think they know something about wine (even if they don’t). This holiday season, anyone can tap into my free web site and mobile apps for iPhone, BlackBerry, Droid and other smartphones. They help consumers with a whole new type of pairing: wine with the people on your Christmas shopping list. The app and site also pair wines to thousands of dishes, including […]
We recently got approval for the Storm 2 and 9500 series free wine mobile app for BlackBerry! The app also works on all other BlackBerry devices and operating systems. If you’re an iPhone or iPod Touch user, we’ve got an app for you too and we’re currently working on a Droid version. All other smartphone can use the mobile site, which has been customized for their phones. We’re on an aggressive development path with the apps: lots more feature over the next few months. Stay tuned! Cheers, Natalie
